A new place where people make decisions
People already use ChatGPT to compare options, plan purchases and ask which service fits their situation. OpenAI has brought ads into ChatGPT, shown separately from the answers and clearly labelled. Since the format launched, I have been running campaigns on it and learning what actually works — on top of my years of Google Ads and Meta experience.
For a business, the opportunity is not only a new ad slot. It is a new kind of visitor: someone who arrives after a conversation, often with a clear question already in mind.
What I do for ChatGPT advertising
I have run ChatGPT Ads campaigns since they became available, and I treat them the same way I treat Google Ads: the ad is only the beginning. My work covers:
- Offer and message. Defining what you sell, to whom, and the one next step you want people to take.
- Landing pages. Pages that answer the follow-up questions a ChatGPT user is likely to have, in plain language.
- Tracking. Conversion measurement so you can see enquiries, bookings or sales, not just clicks.
- Campaign setup and testing. Starting small, comparing messages and scaling what produces real conversations.
- Search and AI visibility. Structuring your website so it is easy to understand for search engines and AI assistants alike.
What running the campaigns already shows
- ChatGPT users arrive with sharper intent than a typical search visitor, because they arrive from a conversation.
- Landing pages that answer follow-up questions directly convert better than generic pages.
- Conversion tracking matters more here than anywhere: without it, you only see the conversation, not the outcome.
- The campaign discipline from Google Ads and Meta carries over — budgets, bidding, testing and clean structure all still decide the result.
How to prepare now
Even before you launch a campaign, a few things make a difference:
- Write down the questions customers ask before they buy, and answer them on your website.
- Make your pricing, service area and next step easy to find.
- Make sure every form or booking is tracked as a conversion.
- Keep your Google Ads and Meta campaigns healthy: the same discipline carries over.
Why work with me
I started in performance marketing, worked on campaigns at Groupon and Atlas Copco, and co-founded the agency Performoon. I run ChatGPT Ads campaigns myself, and because I also build websites and apps, I can prepare the ad, the landing page and the tracking as one connected process.
If you want to advertise on ChatGPT, get in touch and tell me about your business.
